A Branch of Support
Known for its “culture of care,” Rice strives to foster a supportive environment where students can pursue their ambitions in a community of respect, integrity and wellbeing. With new funding from the Moody Foundation, students will have the expanded counseling and advising services to support them.
ANN MCLEOD MOODY
- Fund for Student Wellbeing
The Ann McLeod Moody Fund for Student Wellbeing enables the Wellbeing and Counseling Center to address critical needs relating to student health and wellbeing by expanding programming and professional staff positions designed to promote the mental and physical wellbeing of all students.
In recent years, the university has increased the staff at the Student Wellbeing Office and Rice Counseling Center by 16%. The Student Wellbeing Office and Rice Counseling Center continue to work in tandem to provide students holistic support that ranges from training and programming to psychological evaluations. In particular, the fund helps provide diagnostic testing and co-pays for students who cannot afford the fees and also supports students who are experiencing mental health crises and may need assistance with the travel and accommodations required to reconnect with family.

ABOUT
ANN MCLEOD MOODY
Ann McLeod Moody was a mother, stepmother, grandmother and great grandmother who devoted much of her life to ensuring that everyone in her sphere feels cared for and included. Her insight and compassion were shared in board appointments with National Western Life, Moody Neuro Rehabilitation, the Moody Endowment and 1859 Historic Hotels. In honor of her longstanding dedication to the welfare of others, the Moody Foundation established an endowment in her name that supports student development and success by addressing wellbeing and mental health concerns.
