The Bevan/Warren Fund in Track/Cross Country honors these remarkable coaches and supports the cross country and track and field teams, such as by financing one-time equipment and technology purchases, as well as travel expenses for exceptional athletes competing in high caliber meets or on the summer circuit.
ABOUT
JON WARREN AND JIM BEVAN
Jon Warren has served as head coach of the Rice men’s track and field program for more than 20 years, over which span Rice has won three individual NCAA Championships, four team conference championships and finished in the top 25 as a team three times. Warren has been named conference coach of the year four times and has overseen the development of many student athletes, including 20 All-Americans during his tenure.
Veteran cross country and track and field coach Jim Bevan has coached the Rice women’s track and field program for more than 35 years. Since Rice became a member of Conference USA and under Bevan’s tutelage, the Owls have been one of the league’s annual contenders for the team trophy and have captured team titles in cross country, indoor and outdoor. Bevan won the C-USA Coach of the Year in 2020 after leading the Owls to the indoor title.
